The 19-year-old center-back, contracted with AEK until summer 2027, was born in Adelaide, Australia, and holds dual citizenship. This background has sparked considerable interest from Australian clubs, ultimately leading to his move to Brisbane Roar.

During the previous season, Valkanis featured in 23 matches for AEK’s various squads, including 4 appearances with the U19 team and 19 with the B team, accumulating over 1,800 minutes on the pitch. His consistent performances have marked him as a rising talent in Greek football.
