Super League: Disciplinary Fines Imposed on Clubs Following Matchday 2

In the aftermath of the second round of fixtures in the Super League, the league’s Primary Single-Member Disciplinary Committee has issued financial penalties to several clubs due to the conduct of their supporters during the matches.

Overview of Sanctions

As is customary each week, the Super League’s disciplinary body reviewed the incidents reported and handed down sanctions accordingly. This time, five clubs faced disciplinary hearings, with four receiving fines and one club being cleared of all charges. The heftiest fine was levied against Olympiacos, amounting to €3,000, while AEL Novibet was acquitted.

Detailed Decisions by Club

Olympiacos FC

The committee confirmed that Olympiacos committed the alleged disciplinary violation during their match against Volos NPS on August 30, 2025. Consequently, the club was fined €3,000 for breaches of multiple articles of the Hellenic Football Federation’s disciplinary code, including articles 1, 5, 14, and 15.

Aris Thessaloniki FC

Aris was found guilty of one disciplinary offense but was acquitted of a second charge related to their game against Panaitolikos on August 30, 2025. The club received a €500 fine for the confirmed violation, which involved infractions under articles 1, 5, 14, and 15 of the federation’s code.

AEK Athens FC

AEK was held responsible for a disciplinary breach during their fixture versus Asteras Aktor on August 31, 2025. The club was penalized with a €1,000 fine, reflecting violations of the federation’s disciplinary regulations.

Panathinaikos FC

Similarly, Panathinaikos was found to have committed a disciplinary offense in their match against Levadiakos on August 31, 2025. The imposed fine was €1,000, consistent with the relevant articles of the disciplinary code.

AEL Novibet

AEL Novibet was cleared of all accusations related to their game against A.E. Kifisia on August 30, 2025, and thus no penalties were applied.

Context and Implications

These disciplinary actions underscore the Super League’s ongoing commitment to maintaining order and sportsmanship within Greek football. Crowd behavior remains a critical focus, as fan misconduct can lead to significant repercussions for clubs, both financially and reputationally. For instance, in the 2023-2024 season, fines related to supporter behavior increased by 15%, reflecting stricter enforcement policies.

Clubs are encouraged to implement enhanced security measures and fan education programs to mitigate such incidents. The league continues to monitor compliance closely, aiming to foster a safer and more respectful environment for players, officials, and spectators alike.
